About Goffstown
Goffstown was incorporated on 16 June 1761 and lies directly west of Manchester, with 18,577 residents at the 2020 census. The Piscataquog River runs through the main village and powered the mills that built it.
The twin Uncanoonuc Mountains sit in the southwestern part of town and are the landmark you navigate by from most directions. Saint Anselm College is here, along with the New Hampshire Institute of Politics, which puts on presidential debates and gives a town of this size an oddly national profile every four years.
Goffstown is really several villages rather than one place. Grasmere and Pinardville each have their own feel, and the housing varies accordingly. Pinardville in particular sits right up against Manchester and behaves more like a city neighbourhood than a New Hampshire town.

The second is that on long-settled ground there is often more underneath than anyone has a record of: old foundations, filled ground, previous structures.
